One expert shared with HGTV.com this rule of thumb for the size: Select a rug that is two feet shorter than the room’s smallest wall. But that also could vary depending on the type of room such as the dining room or the arrangement of the room.

It’s a big decision that can not only add to the look of a room but the comfort for you and your guests.
